Isidoro Ramos built the motion picture jazz orchestra to play movie music like real jazz. Nine Houston players make up the band. The set moves between Disney and Pixar all night, never picking a side. King Louie sings "I Wanna Be Like You" from The Jungle Book. "When You Wish Upon a Star," "Under the Sea," and "Let It Go" join the set. So do "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" and "Ma Belle Evangeline" from The Princess and the Frog. Pixar brings "You've Got a Friend in Me," "When She Loved Me," "The Incredibles" theme, and "Married Life" from Up. The band moves from swing to funk to latin, often in the same tune. Ramos writes every arrangement himself. He builds each one to work as jazz first, movie music second.
About Doc's Houston
