Doc's built this stage for singers who treat a song like a story. Elijah Rock fits it well. He started out as a boy soprano before his voice settled into the deep baritone he sings with now. He has kept the Great American Songbook alive through jazz, blues, and old R&B for his whole career.
His album "Memories Unleashed – Impulse 1" came out of his father's Alzheimer's diagnosis. It became a record about memory and love, and it climbed the JazzWeek Top 40. Rock has sung that music across the country and overseas. His stage work has earned him an NAACP Theatre Award and an Ovation Award nomination.
At Doc's, the house band backs him instead of his own touring group, so the sound of each night belongs to this room. Tony Bennett once told him to keep the music alive, and that's still the job.

Doc's is Houston's premier supper club and live music venue, set inside Montrose's historic Tower Theatre and is a 1936 movie palace whose stage has hosted legends from Ella Fitzgerald to Leon Russell.
