Latin Jazz Night with Jose Amador and Terra Nova

Jose Amador used to jump out of planes. He spent more than twenty years in the Army before he ever led a band. Now he leads Terra Nova, with a Jazz, TX residency since 2022 and more than fifty nights on the books. This is his third show at Doc's this year, and the first one that is all his own band instead of a tribute.

Latin Jazz Night with Jose Amador and Terra Nova

Sat, Oct 17

Terra Nova is Jose Amador's own band. He started it after years leading tribute shows. At Jazz, TX the band has played a standing gig since 2022. That is more than fifty nights and counting. Doc's already knows Amador from two other shows this year, one for the Buena Vista Social Club and one for Tito Puente. This one is different. Terra Nova is not a tribute act. The band plays its own take on old jazz songs, plus a few tracks the members wrote. Horns carry the tune. The rhythm section keeps a Latin beat under it, and the set list changes depending on who is on stage.
