Doc's Presents: Latin GRAMMY Award Winner Nestor Torres

Thu, Sep 24

“Very sophisticated with all the flavor of its salsa roots” -Billboard Magazine "An icon of Latin Jazz featuring “impeccable musicianship, and irresistible improvisations” -SoundsOfTimelessJazz.com "Flutist of monumental technique and sublime taste” -Latin Jazz Network

Latin GRAMMY Award-winning flutist Nestor Torres brings a vibrant, unmistakable sound shaped by Latin jazz, classical music, Caribbean rhythm, and Cuban charanga. Born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Torres studied classical flute at Mannes School of Music, jazz at Berklee College of Music, and both classical and jazz at New England Conservatory, developing a melodic and danceable style that has made him one of the most celebrated flutists in the genre.

Torres’s album "This Side of Paradise" won Best Pop Instrumental Album at the 2001 Latin GRAMMY Awards, one of many highlights in a career that includes 18 solo recordings, four Latin GRAMMY nominations, and one GRAMMY nomination. He has collaborated with artists including Gloria Estefan, Kenny Loggins, Dave Matthews, Paquito D’Rivera, Herbie Hancock, Arturo Sandoval, and Tito Puente, and has performed with major orchestras including the Cleveland, Singapore, and New World Symphony Orchestras. Beyond the stage and studio, Torres has received two honorary doctorate degrees from Barry University and Carlos Albizu University for his commitment to youth, education, and cultural exchange.

Our kitchen and bar will be open, serving up chef-crafted dishes and handcrafted cocktails to make your night complete. Come hungry, the food’s as good as the music!
