On the Record: A Century of Pop Hits!
Tue, Aug 18
Prepare for a whirlwind trip through a century of pop music! From Broadway and Hollywood, to the Beatles, Michael Jackson, and Nirvana! The Graeme Francis Trio, featuring Jose Miguel Yamal on keys and David Craig on bass, will guide the audience through an exciting, interactive performance examining the overlap between jazz, America’s original art form, and popular songs we all know and love. Jazz was the popular music of the 30’s-50’s, when Doc’s Houston was known as the Tower Theatre, and over the years, it hosted a wide variety of musical acts. Come see how jazz has used popular music as a springboard for its own development and celebrate the legacy of this great building!
Our kitchen and bar will be open, serving up chef-crafted dishes and handcrafted cocktails to make your night complete. Come hungry, the food’s as good as the music!
See you at the show!
About Doc's Houston
Doc's is Houston's premier supper club and live music venue, set inside Montrose's historic Tower Theatre and is a 1936 movie palace whose stage has hosted legends from Ella Fitzgerald to Leon Russell. Opened in 2025 by bandleader and pianist Doc Watkins, the club brings the golden era of the supper club back to Westheimer. Live music runs Tuesday through Saturday, from Doc Watkins and his orchestra to world-class touring artists. Every show in the showroom is an intimate, ticketed concert with reserved seating and attentive table service from the first note to the last. Come early for chef Jose Avila's classic supper club fare: steaks, seafood, and pastas with handcrafted cocktails and wine to match. At Doc's, the goal is simple: to bring joy, with sensational entertainment, exquisite food and drinks, and service that exceeds every expectation. 1201 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77006 (281) 805-8787 Tuesday– Saturday 6 PM–midnight
