The Golden Age of Swing with Bryan Anthony
Thu, Aug 27
Step into the golden age of swing, when a big band could stop a country in its tracks. When the trombones of Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey, the clarinets of Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw, and the swing of Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton were the sound of an entire generation.
For one night, that era returns to Doc's.
At the heart of the evening is vocalist Bryan Anthony, who carried this songbook to audiences night after night on the road with the orchestras of Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller. He is joined by former Dorsey bandmate Joe Jenkins and his orchestra, players who have taken this music across the country and know it from the bandstand, not the library.
"Moonlight Serenade" glides with velvet elegance, "Sing, Sing, Sing" roars with runaway thunder, and the orchestra brings the era’s greatest arrangements back to life. The evening closes the way Tommy Dorsey always did, as the sentimental gentleman, with his signature theme, "I’m Getting Sentimental Over You."
Our kitchen and bar will be open, serving up chef-crafted dishes and handcrafted cocktails to make your night complete. Come hungry, the food’s as good as the music!
See you at the show!
