Gerald French & The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band is a living embodiment of New Orleans jazz history, carrying forward one of the city’s oldest and most influential musical traditions. Founded in 1910 by legendary cornetist Oscar “Papa” Celestin at the historic Tuxedo Dance Hall in Storyville, the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band has remained a cornerstone of traditional New Orleans jazz for more than a century. Under the leadership of acclaimed drummer, vocalist, and fourth-generation New Orleans musician Gerald French, the band continues to honor its deep musical lineage while bringing the spirit, rhythm, and soul of New Orleans to audiences around the world.
The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band is composed of some of New Orleans' most respected traditional jazz musicians. The core ensemble for major performances and festival appearances includes Gerald French on drums and lead vocals, Richard Moten on bass, Paul Longstreth on piano, Andrew Baham on trumpet and horn, and Roderick Paulin on clarinet and saxophone. Together, the group delivers an authentic New Orleans jazz sound rooted in generations of musical tradition and live performance excellence.
