Eddie Wakes: L-O-V-E Cover

Eddie Wakes brings his velvety baritone to Doc’s for "L-O-V-E," a romantic evening of timeless songs accompanied by The Graeme Francis Orchestra. With a voice strikingly reminiscent of Nat King Cole, Eddie will bring warmth, elegance, and old-school charm to a program centered on love in all its forms.

Eddie’s life as a singer is the stuff movies are made of. He performed at the Super Bowl as a youngster, was later discovered singing on the streets of Los Angeles by Hollywood A-listers, and has gone on to perform for and alongside legendary artists. His rich, wide-ranging voice feels rooted in another era while remaining entirely his own.

“Eddie is a new, evocative voice.”

— Morgan Freeman

“Tremendous singer.”

— Elvis Costello

Raised in Topeka, Kansas, Eddie grew up singing with his eight brothers and was deeply influenced by his father, a pastor and gifted vocalist who was once invited by Lionel Hampton to sing with his big band. Inspired by artists including Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Billy Eckstine, Johnny Hartman, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, and James Brown, Eddie brings a lifetime of musical influence to this elegant celebration of love.
