Raquel Cepeda Septet: Swing Brazil
Wed, Oct 21

"Swing Brazil" brings the elegance, rhythm, and romance of Brazil to the heart of Houston. Led by Venezuelan-born vocalist and songwriter Raquel Cepeda, one of Houston’s leading interpreters of Brazilian music, this special evening celebrates bossa nova, traditional samba, and samba-jazz sung in its original language. With a rich, storytelling voice and a deep command of Portuguese, Cepeda brings warmth, nuance, and irresistible rhythm to every song.
Joined by an exceptional ensemble featuring Barry Sames on piano, Thomas Helton on bass, Adriano Santos on drums, Jesus Pacheco on percussion, Ernesto Vega on saxophone, and Stephan Badreau on guitar, Cepeda presents beloved works including Jobim’s "Águas de Março," Barroso’s "Aquarela do Brasil," Menescal’s "Rio," Lobo’s "Tristeza," and Jorge Aragão’s "Vou Festejar." Elegant, vibrant, and deeply musical, this is a night of swaying bossa nova, driving samba, and sophisticated samba-jazz led by a singer who connects across languages, cultures, and rhythms.
Our kitchen and bar will be open, serving up chef-crafted dishes and handcrafted cocktails to make your night complete. Come hungry, the food’s as good as the music!
