Popular music has produced many celebrated “double threats,” artists whose ability to both play and sing set them apart. Houston-based vocalist and saxophonist David Caceres belongs firmly in that lineage, offering a rare combination of a soulful, emotive voice and the technical command of an alto saxophonist capable of standing toe-to-toe with the best of his generation. His natural charisma and musical depth allow him to connect effortlessly with a wide-ranging audience. Raised in a family with deep jazz roots and trained at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Caceres has built a career that spans performance, recording, and education. He has shared the stage with artists including Gregory Porter, Wynton Marsalis, Kirk Whalum, and Paquito D’Rivera, recorded on Grammy-winning projects, and served on the faculty of Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and the University of Houston. Today, he stands as a true Texas tradition, uniting audiences through musicianship, history, and heart.
