The Sassafras Swing Set invites audiences to a time-traveling soirée straight out of Midnight in Paris, reviving the sparkling sounds of the 1920s–1940s with irresistible charm and swing. Rooted in Dixieland and trad jazz, with a splash of Western swing, the band breathes fresh life into long-loved tunes while honoring their original spirit. Drawing inspiration from Django Reinhardt’s gypsy jazz fire, Louis Armstrong’s playfulness and gravitas, Billie Holiday’s smoky soul, Peggy Lee’s timeless elegance, and Patsy Cline’s heartfelt twang, the band brings new life to long-loved tunes while honoring their original spirit. The Sassafras Swing Set has been a beloved fixture of the Texas music scene for over a decade, often sharing the scene with swing dancers and lighting up venues such as The Continental Club, Dan Electro’s, The Big Easy, Shoeshine Charley’s Big Top Lounge, Reveler’s Hall, and The Balcony Club. Vintage at heart and steeped in New Orleans swing, their sound is an open invitation to dance, awakening fond memories, old smiles, and a little magic along the way.
