The 18-piece Woody Witt Big Band presents a fully immersive performance of the music from the legendary anime "Cowboy Bebop" at Doc’s Jazz Club. Live big band arrangements will be performed in perfect sync with select scenes from the original series, projected on our 10-foot by 24-foot screen throughout the evening, creating a cinematic concert experience unlike anything Houston has seen or heard before. ****We’re partnering with Animeverse Fest to give away tickets to their Houston event on Feb 13–14! It all begins with a night of live jazz at Doc’s. Join us for The Music of Cowboy Bebop, performed by the Woody Witt Big Band. Your ticket purchase for this show automatically enters you into the giveaway. Two winners will be announced Feb 6! The program will showcase arrangements primarily written by Jamie Langan, crafted specifically for an 18-piece jazz orchestra, bringing the explosive energy and stylistic variety of the "Cowboy Bebop" soundtrack to the stage. The concert will also include original big band arrangements of material previously performed as small group charts, along with arrangements that honor and closely reflect the feel and architecture of Yoko Kanno and The Seatbelts’ groundbreaking score. “Cowboy Bebop is one of the most important intersections between jazz and popular culture,” says saxophonist and bandleader Woody Witt. “Hearing this music live with a full band is already thrilling—pairing it with visuals from the show adds a whole new dimension. It feels like the series jumps off the screen and into the room.” Our kitchen and bar will be open, serving up chef-crafted dishes and handcrafted cocktails to make your night complete. Come hungry, the food’s as good as the music. See you at the show!
